On a recent Saturday morning Board Members Tom Hewlett, Ross Ambrose and volunteer Bob Smith gathered to pour the first bench pad for one of the Cities benches.  Some of the benches installed in 2007 sit awkwardly on the sidewalk right-of-way.  This type of placement can make it difficult for both pedestrians but also those looking for a comfortable place to sit.  The new bench pads help create a more open walkway and inviting place to relax.  City crews often have difficulty finding time for these small concrete projects.  Last year Main Street purchased insurance that allows our volunteers to do this type of work on City Property.  If anyone would like to help with the remaining bench pads they should contact the Main Street office at 386-454-2889.  Another work day will be organized in the near future.
